INCOMING 9TH GRADE ENROLLMENT PROCESS
STEP 1: Application & High School Placement Test
Parents interested in enrolling their students at Saint Bonaventure High School can initiate the application process online. If prospective 9th grade students miss the primary admissions deadline, they can still apply at any point and will be evaluated based on availability in a first-come, first-served manner.
In addition to completing an application, students should have also successfully completed their elementary and junior high school requirements and demonstrate the readiness for high school to be considered for acceptance. As part of the process, they need to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT).
Please note: There is a $100 application fee due at the time an application is submitted to Saint Bonaventure High School. This application fee is non-refundable.
STEP 2: Recommendations & Report Cards
Parents will need to provide Saint Bonaventure High School with a copy of their student's 7th grade report card and the first semester report card/progress report from 8th grade. SBHS will work with student's parents to request recommendation forms from each student's Principal/Asst. Principal, Math teacher and English teacher.
STEP 3: Evaluation & Acceptance Notification
The admission evaluation encompasses factors such as a history of favorable academic performance and the outcome of the parent/student interview, the applicant's expressed eagerness to enroll, and the availability of space within the school. These criteria collectively influence the determination of admission eligibility. If necessary, an interview will be scheduled to determine admission.
The admission decision considers their seventh and eighth grade report cards, placement test scores, and recommendations from the current junior high school. Note: Placement into freshman advanced courses is determined by the placement test scores and/or a subject readiness test, scheduled on an alternate date.
Notifications of acceptance will be mailed directly to applicants who met the primary application deadline and all admissions requirements. Perspective 9th grade students who do not meet the primary admissions application deadline are welcome to apply at any time and will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis if space is available.
