INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ENROLLMENT PROCESS
Saint Bonaventure High School primarily accepts international students applying for freshman, sophomore, or junior levels (9th, 10th and 11th grades). Occasionally seniors (12th grade) are accepted only after providing sufficient proof of success in an English instructional program for 9th-11th grades (i.e. enrollment in either an international school or another U.S. high school). We welcome all students from all countries around the globe. Most recently, we have had students from Korea, France, Vietnam, Italy and China.
STEP 1: Application
Students or agencies interested in becoming a St. Bonaventure's International Student must complete and submit an application along with a $150 non-refundable application fee to begin the admissions process. Students are accepted based on space availability and student placement is limited. Saint Bonaventure High School can not guarantee admission. Parents interested in enrolling their students at Saint Bonaventure High School can initiate the application process online at anytime.
STEP 2: Transcripts & Forms
Immediately after applying, please forward by mail or email the following support documents:
- Immunization records: in English
- Three (3) confidential student evaluation forms: To be completed by your current Principal or Adminstrator, and current Mathematics and English teachers. If you are not taking English, submit a form from another teacher of your choice. ALL recommendation letters MUST be on official school letterhead.
- Official school transcripts: Transcripts must be translated into English and have an official school stamp. All grade levels must be numbered (7th grade through the current grade level) and have dates of attendance. Grades must be in letter format (“A, B, C, D, F”), or an equivalency scale must be provided. The specific level of Mathematics (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, etc.) is necessary.
- Copy of student’s passport: must be current for at least the coming school year
- Copy of Proof on Family’s Financial Responsibility: foreign bank certified letter showing enough funds on deposit for payment of tuition or Form 1040 from IRS
- English Proficiency Test Results (minimum requirements): B1 Intermediate-B2 Upper Intermediate EF SET 41-60, TOEFL iBT (min. 70-80) TOEFL Junior (overall score min. 3.5-4, Total Score min. 700, B1, IELTS 4.0-6.0, TOEIC (R&L) Total Score 600-700, Cambridge English Scale 140-160, Global Scale 45-75
- Written personal statement: Students must write their own statement introducing themselves, stating why they want to study in the U.S., sharing their interests, and describing the person who has had the most influence in their lives.
All documents need be to completed and submitted along with a $1000.00 non-refundable registration fee. Documents should be sent as pdf files to the International Student Program Director, Mr. Mike Herrera Questions can be forwarded by email or phone.

Once an application and all support documents have been received, the school will schedule a Skype, Zoom or Google Meets interview with the student and their family/s to complete the application process and review students' expectations for success. Sometime soon after the interview the school will communicate its decision regarding acceptance and if accepted complete registration process with student.
The process is a little different for students coming from China, students may work with a variety of agencies and they can contact us directly, over the years we have had many students participate in The Cambridge Network. STEP 4: I-20/Visa Requirements & Financials
Once the student is officially registered at SBHS the school must submit on behalf of the student the following information to the Archdiocese to apply for an I-20 visa.
- Copy of Student Passport
- Copy of Student Transcripts (in English)
- “Authorization for Adult to Act as Custodial Parent” Form designating student's guardianship/place of residence (submitted to the school as part of the registration packet).
- Copy of Parent’s Financial Statement.
- I-20/Orientation Fee Payment $1025.00 is to be paid to St. Bonaventure High School, which will then be forwarded by the school to the Department of Catholic Schools along with the I-20 application and all of the necessary documents listed above.
- The I-20 will be mailed to the party designated on the application. There is an additional $125 fee for international addresses (which would make the total I-20 application fee $1150).
TUITION
Tuition for the 2024-25 school year is $16,500 (Tuition includes the following)
- International Students receive all of their e-text books from Ed-tech
- Entry into all-home Athletic events and on campus events (Homecoming Dance, winter formal, backwards).
- Graduation Fees
- Tuition does not include iPad tablets, school uniforms, off-campus events, CIF playoff Games, athletic sports uniforms, Prom events or Grad night
